The Department of Visual and Performing Arts was established in 1976 within the Faculty of Fine Arts at Ege University. In 1982, it was relocated to Dokuz Eylül University and renamed as the “Cinema-TV and Photography Department.” In response to the evolving needs of the field, the department transformed into the Cinema-TV Department in 1996 and then into the Film Design Department in 2009. The Department of Editing, Sound, and Cinematography conducted its educational and instructional activities under the name of the “Film Design Department” until 2022. As of the 2022-2023 academic year, it has become a separate department, continuing its education and teaching activities.
The Department of Editing, Sound, and Cinematography aims to provide students with an education program that prepares them for the film industry as cinematographers, editors, and post-production professionals. The program focuses on areas such as cinematography, sound, lighting, production, and post-production, bringing students to a competent level in these fields.
Upon graduation from this program at the undergraduate level, our students will be able to pursue careers in cinema, television, and new media, including film, advertising, series, music videos, social media, and more.
Our educational activities take place in dedicated classrooms as well as shared spaces within the Faculty and University. In addition to classrooms, we have computer laboratories for post-production courses and a Small TV studio that provides facilities for studio shoots.
